Tam Dao 05 Jack Up Rig Handover Ceremony

On 12 August 2016, Russia-Vietnam Joint Venture - Vietsovpetro (Vietsovpetro) as owner and PetroVietnam Marine Shipyard (PV Shipyard) as the builder held handover ceremony for the Tam Dao 05 jack up rig after 32 months of construction.

Tam Dao 05 is a jack-up rig, designed in accordance with Friede and Goldman’s JU-2000E model. It is expected to have a total 18,000 tonnage when it is built, capable of operating at a depth of 120 meters or 400 ft below water, and will be able to drill at a depth of 9,000 meters, or 30,000 ft. This is the second jack-up rig domestically manufactured by subsidiaries of PetroVietnam. The first was Tam Dao 03 which was put into operation in 2012.

In the ceremony, there were presented PV Shipyard’s employees, representatives of Vietsovpetro and Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam celebrated this success.

Mr. Le Hung, Managing Director of PV Shipyard stated at the ceremony, “We are glad to complete and handover this new build jack - up rig to Vietsovpetro on time and on budget”. We believed that this state of the art jack – up rig will remarkably contribute to drilling productively for the owner.

Attending the ceremony, Mr. Tu Thanh Nghia – General Director of Vietsovpetro thanked all officers and PV Shipyard’s employee has tried its best to ensure the progress of the project. He expressed: “We are most happy and satisfied to work with PV Shipyard on this second project together”.

Deputy Prime Minister – Mr.  Trinh Dinh Dung also present and congratulated the success of the PV Shipyard in contributing to the development of Vietnam's mechanical industry gradually to affirm its leading position in Vietnam and strongly participating in international market.
